Cambridge GO and Cambridge GO Interactive

Use of the Cambridge University Press website at http://www.cambridge.edu.au/go/ is subject to these terms and conditions of use. Users who do not accept these Terms of Use are not authorised to use or continue using this website. We may amend these Terms of Use at any time and any revised version will be effective immediately, once it is displayed on this website.

Except as permitted by the copyright law applicable to you or these Terms of Use, you may not reproduce or communicate any of the content on this website, including files downloadable from this website, without the written permission of the copyright owner.

Reproduction and communication for educational purpose

The purpose of the official Cambridge GO website is to provide you with digital products and services. References to “we”, “us” and “our” should be construed as references to the Press.

Agreement to use our site

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) together with our Privacy Notice , and any additional terms which might apply to certain products or services, govern your use of and explain the terms on which the Press provides you with access to our website at www.cambridge.edu.au/go and any other microsites, web pages or platforms maintained by us or on our behalf (collectively our “Site”).

Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using or registering to use our Site.

By accessing or using our Site you confirm that you have read, understood and accept these Terms and that you agree to comply with them. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use or access (or continue to use or access) the Site. You are responsible for bringing these Terms to the attention of anyone who may read material on this Site as a result of your access to it.

Parts of our Site are available to browse free of charge, whilst some content is only available to those who have paid for, or have otherwise been permitted, access to it.

Your account

Where you have registered on our Site and have been provided with a username and password, you agree to keep confidential your logins, username and/or password, and to be responsible for any loss or damage resulting from use of your password by a third party.

If there has been a disclosure of your username and/or password, you agree to notify us promptly of such disclosure, so that we can take appropriate security measures and provide you with a new username and password.

We have the right to suspend or terminate access to our Site at any time, if in our reasonable opinion you have failed to comply with, or are in breach of, any of the provisions of these Terms.

Use of the site by minors

The use of our Site by minors (below the age of sixteen (16) years of age) is subject to the consent of their parent or guardian.

We advise parents who permit their children to use the Site that it is important that they communicate with their children about their safety online. Minors who are using the Site should be made aware of the potential risks to them and of their obligation to comply with these Terms.

E-Commerce

Any purchases you make from our Site are subject to our Terms and Conditions of Sale . You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older to make a purchase on our Site.

Permitted uses

You may use the Site only for lawful purposes.

If you access any part of our Site you agree that you will not use the Site:

1.     in any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation;

2.     in any way that is unlawful or fraudulent or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect;

3.     for the purpose of harming or attempting to harm minors in any way;

4.     in such a way that disrupts, interferes with or restricts the use of the Site by other users;

5.     to transmit or procure the sending of any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material or any other form of similar solicitation (‘spam’);

6.     to transmit knowingly any data, or send or upload any material, that contains viruses, trojans, worms or any other computer code, programs or files designed to destroy, interrupt or limit the functionality of any computer, computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment;

7.     to gain unauthorised access to our Site, the server on which our Site is stored or any server, computer or database connected to our Site.

You must ensure that any materials uploaded, displayed or transmitted by you through or to the Site are not false, offensive, defamatory, threatening, obscene or unlawful and do not breach or infringe the rights of any person anywhere in the world.

PDF Textbooks

You are entitled to download and store PDF Textbooks on your local machine. However they may not be transferred to another party as an electronic or print version. The downloaded PDF Textbook is expressly available for personal use only.

Schools are entitled to load the downloaded PDFs onto their school network for use only for the same number of users as they have purchased printed or digital texts.

Electronic Versions

The same uses apply as for PDF Textbooks, with the addition of the edit function. The edit function enables students to input answers, take notes, bookmark, highlight pages and print or email answers. However, such use is limited to personal use, at home or in the classroom.

Interactive Textbooks and Online Resources

Interactive textbooks and some digital online resources are only available as online content. There are features to bookmark, make notes, and email and or print single pages.

Schools are only entitled to project this content onto classroom whiteboards only if the interactive textbook or online resource has been purchased for the number of students using it in the classroom. It is expressly not available for use in this way if it has been purchased as a reference copy rather than a class set or booklisted item.

Apps

You are entitled to download and store apps on your own device(s). However they may not be transferred to another party and are expressly available for personal use only.

Other ancilliary materials

Authorised Users may access, search and view content for personal use only. Print, copy and download permissions may vary depending on the sensitivity and rights available for the content.

Teacher Resource Packages

Downloaded materials may be placed on your school network for use by other teachers at your school. This condition is limited to ancillary content and does not apply to PDF Textbooks, Apps, Interactive Textbooks and other Online resources.

Online resource components of printed Teacher Editions

Access to the PDF Textbook for individual use is included with selected Teacher Editions. The PDF Textbook may be downloaded onto one computer but may not be placed on the school network or transferred to another party. Other downloaded materials, except for the PDF Textbook, may be placed on your school network for use by other teachers at your school.

No other uses are permitted under these Terms of Use.

Uploading content to our site

Whenever you make use of a feature that allows you to upload content to our Site, or to make contact with other users of our Site, you must comply with the ‘Permitted Uses’ set out above.

Any content you upload to our Site will be considered non-confidential and non-proprietary. You retain all of your ownership rights in your content, but you are required to grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, assignable, royalty free and global licence to use, operate, store, copy, modify and sub-licence that content and to distribute and make it available to third parties. You waive any moral rights in respect of any such content unless stated otherwise in these Terms or any other Cambridge site specific terms of use.

We have the right to remove any posting you make on our Site if, in our opinion, your post does not comply with these Terms.

Messages boards

Some of the pages of the Site may contain message boards, bulletin boards, chat pages or other forums in which users are able to post messages for viewing by others. The Press does not edit or monitor the content of any such pages and, subject to what is said below, do not have any knowledge of any of the activities or information carried on in, or contained within, such pages.

If you become aware that any posted material on those pages or any activities carried out on those pages are offensive, unlawful or infringe any third party rights in any way please send an appropriately worded message to us by email using this address: [email protected]. We shall then act expeditiously to remove any such material or to disable access to the information.

Limitation of our liability

We will not be liable to any user for any loss or damage, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, even if foreseeable, arising under or in connection with use of, or inability to use our Site or use of or reliance on any content displayed on our Site.

To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all conditions, warranties, representations or other terms which may apply to our Site or any content on it, whether express or implied.

However, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury arising from our negligence, or our fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by English law.

Competitions and prizes

From time to time the Press may run or host competitions, free prize draws and promotions on the Site. In each case these will be subject to additional competition terms and conditions which will be available on the applicable page of the Site.

Linking to our site

You may link to our home page, provided you do so in a way that is fair and legal and does not damage our reputation or take advantage of it.

We reserve the right to withdraw linking permission without notice.

Trade Marks

“Cambridge”, “Cambridge University Press” and other names of products or services are registered trade marks in certain countries worldwide. No use of these or any other trade marks may be made except for the purpose of referring to the Press or its associated brands lawfully and in good faith only

Applicable Law

These Terms, any contract that incorporates them, and any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with them or their formation are governed by English law. We both agree that the courts of England will have exclusive jurisdiction. 

Licence period and termination

The licence granted for your use of content on Cambridge GO is limited to the term, which is defined as:

  • access for three calendar years for PDF Textbooks and Cambridge GO ancillary materials. A PDF Textbook code cannot be activated concurrently by multiple users.

The licence granted for your use of Interactive Textbooks and Online resources, and Electronic Versions on Cambridge GO is limited to the term, which is defined as:

  • access for one calendar year for Interactive Textbooks and Online resources, and Electronic Versions, unless otherwise stated on resources that have been designed to cover multiple year levels.
  • Some Interactive textbooks, online resources and Electronic Versions are designed to cover multiple year levels. The subscriptions periods are defined as stated on those resources or on our website entries for those resources.
  • An access code for these resources cannot be activated concurrently by multiple users.

'Year' is defined as running from registration of your Access Code until:

  • 31st December of the current year if you register in the months January to August;
  • 31st December of the next year if you register in the months August to December.

These Terms of Use shall remain in full force and effect for the duration of your access period or until such time as Cambridge University Press may terminate its agreement for access to Cambridge GO.

In the event that an Authorised User commits a material breach of these Terms of Use, Cambridge University Press reserves the right at its sole discretion to either (i) withdraw access on a temporary basis, or (ii) terminate access on a permanent basis, to the content in the event of a deliberate and/or systematic breach of these Terms of Use by the Authorised User. Cambridge University Press further reserves the right to exercise all rights and remedies that may be available to it in law or equity.
