Aimed at lower and middle secondary school students Paper Dreaming features stories that reflect on growing up, and focuses on the writers’ connections to the past, their expectations of today and their hopes for the future.

Compiling editor Lorna Munro says of Paper Dreaming, “We are the descendants of warriors and leaders, who have learnt to raise their voices and tell their stories their way. Mainstream Australia will never know how valuable it is to have a voice and to be heard until their voice has been taken away from them in every sense.”

Perfect for classroom use, Paper Dreaming engages students with lesson-sized stories and poems covering a range of themes and styles that introduce students to writing techniques and the skills of critical literacy.

Paper Dreaming reflects the Literacy and Literature strands of the English Australian Curriculum, with an emphasis on personal stories about one's life and exploring the interconnectedness of Country and Place, People, Identity and Culture from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander authors.

10% of net sales of Paper Dreaming – the latest installment in the New Paper Series – will be donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, a charity dedicated to addressing literacy in remote Indigenous communities and isolated regions, and advocating community awareness of Indigenous literacy issues.

Paper Dreaming can be purchased through booksellers or through the Cambridge University Press Education website: www.cambridge.edu.au/education
